Founded in 2003, HART has been rescuing animals from the Garrett County Animal Shelter, with the help of regional rescue groups. In 2007, HART began a fund-raising campaign to build an animal adoption center in the county. HART’S MISSION STATEMENT: To save the lives of adoptable homeless pets in Garrett County through rescue, owner education, training, rehabilitation and successful adoption. To ensure a lasting solution, HART will build an animal adoption center in Western Maryland by raising private funds and working with the county government.

Products & Services: During the fund raising phase, HART is continuing to rescue animals from euthanasia and transporting them to more populous areas where they have a greater chance of being. Once the facility is built, HART will provide various animal services to ensure the successful adoption of homeless animals, including owner education, obedience training, and community outreach.
