Reviews.com recently finished our cat food project where we researched 1,759 cat food formulas to find the top pick for our feline friends. Our goal was to help cat owners understand what’s truly in the food their pets are eating. We discovered some pretty alarming ingredients in some of the popular brands on the market, and now we are trying to get the word out. We spent over 300 hours analyzing the cat food industry, consulted with 97 veterinary professionals and surveyed 437 devoted cat owners. After reading through dozens of research articles and studies, we then evaluated cat food formulas to understand what is beneficial and what is harmful. Ultimately, we found 163 formulas that we would recommend due to their high quality and risk-free ingredients. Ingredients in cat food have been a long-standing debate and is very near and dear to people’s hearts (as it should be). While we’re not necessarily asking for an endorsement, I think our article can provoke more discussion – allowing cat owners to speak openly about what they agree or disagree with, and ultimately getting people to think about their feeding choices.
