Animal Welfare League of Queen Anne’s County (AWL) is an incorporated, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. AWL is dedicated to saving and improving the lives of homeless animals and serving as a positive presence in the community while providing valuable resources. Our mission is to foster a community working together to improve and save the lives of homeless animals. We strive to set a standard of excellence and leadership in animal care, humane education and progressive animal welfare programs. AWL adopts animals to their forever homes throughout Maryland, and has adopted pets to homes in many other states as well. We strive to find the best match for both animal and family or person The goal of AWL is to achieve a “no-kill”, open-admission shelter. “No-kill” means that all healthy or medically treatable animals, as well as all behaviorally sound animals will have the opportunity to be adopted to a caring home. The Humane Society of Wicomico County is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization. As we offer animal control services, we are an open-admission shelter.  OUR GOAL IS TO ADOPT ALL OF OUR ADOPTABLE ANIMALS!! We do not have animal euthanasia dates or euthanasia lists. Any animal that is adoptable stays with us until adopted. For our long-term residents, we may try to transfer the animal to another one of our shelter partners that share our philosophy of ADOPTION FIRST!! One of the ways we utilize to plan our shelter capacity is to work with those who need to surrender their animal to ask the reason and if we can offer or direct them to assistance so they can keep their pet. We intake surrenders by appointment to manage our capacity.  We ask for a surrender donation to help with the costs of vaccinations and initial care of the animal. ($25 dog/puppy–$15 cat/kitten–$25 cat w/litter). The SPCA/Humane Society of Prince George’s County, Inc. was established in 1976 and chartered by the State of Maryland as a nonprofit organization whose primary goals are preventing cruelty to animals and ending pet overpopulation. Among other offerings, we provide low-cost vaccinations and micro-chipping at our once-a-month shot clinic, dog and cat adoption programs, and humane education and cruelty investigation. We are an all-volunteer group and we can always use more help! Our great volunteers help by fostering animals, returning phone calls and e-mails, handling dogs and cats at adoption shows, transporting animals to those shows and to vet appointments, conducting homevisits (of potential adopters), photographing cats and dogs for our website, helping out with fundraisers and other events, working at our clinic, researching reports of cruelty to animals, and educating the public on animal-related issues.
