Dog Parks

Opened 2008. Iron Hill Park’s “Bark Park” is a fenced, off-leash, two-section dog exercise area, one area for small dogs and one for larger dogs. The park offers drinking water, benches, and trees. Please use the supplied baggies (or your own) to pick up your dog’s business. Hiking trails surround the dog park. Favorite

Towers Park in Arlington, Virginia offers a fenced in, lighted dog park with a separate area for small dogs, water spigots, benches and agility equipment. Lots of used tennis balls from the nearby tennis courts for dogs. See our website for more information on events and seasonal dog parties. Favorite

Chinquapin Park  located in Alexandria, Virginia offers an unfenced, off-leash dog area in a designated area of the Park near King Street. The off-leash dog park is controlled by the Alexandria Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities. Favorite

Capitol Hill’s historic Congressional Cemetery offers over 35 acres of fenced space for member dogs to walk and play. Annual membership is managed by the K9 Corps, which is restricted to 770 members. Membership to the K9 Corps is annual and runs from March to February, with the waitlist opened in mid-January. The fee is $225 per family, and there’s a $50 per dog fee, maximum of three dogs. Members also are asked to volunteer at least eight hours per year. Day passes are available to nonmembers for $10. The cemetery also hosts the “Day of the Dog” event in late summer as well as “Yappy Hours” in the spring, photos with Santa at Christmas and the Blessing of the Animals in October.   Favorite

Lake Accotink Park offers numerous activities for dog owners –  dog obedience and exercise classes, monthly dog cruises on the lake, dog summer camp, dog birthday parties as well as many other pet holiday events and contests. You can also hike with your dog on the 4 mile loop “rail” trail.   Favorite

Vienna dog Park, located in Vienna, Virginia adjacent to Nottoway Park. This fenced, off-leash dog park offers drinking water and shade. All dogs must be licensed by the Town of Vienna or Fairfax County. Favorite

Opened in June 2002, Mason District Dog Park is located in Annandale, Virginia. This fenced, off-leash dog park offers a gravel surface, benches and tables, but no separate small dog area. Please bring water your own water. The dog park has a capacity for 62 dogs and is handicapped accessible. It is supported by Mason District Dog Opportunity Group. Favorite

Opened in early 2003, Chandon Dog Park in Herndon, Virginia is supported by Herndon Dogs, Inc. This fenced, off leash dog park has lots of shade trees, a separate small dog area, drinking water and benches. The park has capacity for 42 dogs. Favorite
