Matapeake State Park on the south shore of Kent Island features an off-leash dog park and sandy dog beach on Chesapeake Bay. The park offers nice views of the Bay Bridge. Parking is located at the Matapeake Clubhouse and Public Beach lot. Dogs are not allowed at the clubhouse, its lawn, or the public beach. The beach can be accessed via a dog trail that begins at the fence that borders the rear of the clubhouse. Owners must bring plastic bags to pick up after their pets. No entrance fee. Favorite

Elm’s Beach park is a 476 acre pet friendly park on the Chesapeake Bay. The park has a picnic pavilion, playground, portable restrooms, changing area and parking. Dogs on a leash are allowed on the beach. All pets must be kept on a leash in parks. Pet owners are responsible for the actions of their pets and must clean up after pets. Flag Ponds Nature Park is located on the Chesapeake Bay. Dogs on a leash are allowed in the park which includes a sandy beach. Deep Creek Lake State Park is a Pet Friendly State Park in Garrett County Maryland that lies just west of the Allegheny Front on a large plateau known as the Tablelands or Allegany Highlands. The park is the site of the historic Brant coal mine and homesite, where a restored mine entrance preserves a typical drift or adit mine. The mine was worked for several years by the Brant family and it supplied bituminous coal for heating and blacksmithing in the local community. Over 95% of the park consists of a forest that has regenerated from the original stands of timber into an excellent example of a maturing northern hardwood forest. Oaks and hickories are now the dominant species. Forest wildlife species such as black bear, wild turkey, bobcat, and white tailed deer have grown in numbers over the past decades as habitat has been preserved and managed. Small mammals such as squirrel, chipmunk, raccoon, skunk, and opossum are frequently seen. The park is also home to numerous plant species, some rare, found on the forest floor. A variety of topography exists in this long, narrow park, from tidal marshes and wetlands to steep, rugged slopes. There are more than 100 miles of trails, including the 21 mile Northern Central Railroad (NCR) Trail. The park features excellent trout fishing opportunities, as well as other freshwater and tidal fishing areas.
