Cat Rescues (All Breeds)

Our primary mission is assisting the caretakers of feral (wild) cat colonies who want to do TNR. That means they trap the cats, have them tested for FELV and FIV, vaccinated and altered. Our role is supplying equipment and funding for the vet bills, as well as moral support and information. Whenever possible, kittens and strays are placed in carefully screened adoptive homes (they wait at our vet or in foster homes until they are placed). Feral adults are returned to the colony. Once the colony is “finished”, the caretaker’s role becomes supplying food, water and shelter and picking up any stray that might wander by in search of a handout. Many of the caretakers then become volunteers to help in our fund raising efforts so we can help other colonies! Cat Rescue of Maryland – Pets Available for Adoption Favorite

Who We Are Capital Cats is a group of foster households on the Capitol Hill area of Washington, DC. We primarily assist cats (and kittens) who have lived among people at some point in their lives, but then were abandoned and struggled to survive. These kitties are so thankful to find someone who will care for them again, see that they are spayed/neutered and vaccinated, and then work hard to match them up with the perfect permanent home. Cat and kitten rescue and adoption services. We are a small group working within Worcester County, MD. Our primary focus is to provide food and shelter for stray cats. Our volunteers are also involved with local vets implementing spay-neuter-release programs, providing local grade schools with materials to educate children on pet care and the stray cat issue, organizing an outreach program for pet owners in need of medical care for their pets and working with other rescue organizations to organize adoption fairs. The Howard County Cat Club is dedicated to keeping cats out of shelters because we believe that no cat deserves to live in a cage, or to be put to death because it is no longer wanted or in the way. We operate a behavior hotline to help cats and their human companions resolve their differences. We advise people who need to place their no-longer-wanted cats in new homes; we have a no-kill, cage-free “group home” for cats with absolutely nowhere else to go; and we help feral colony caretakers with Trap/Neuter/Return.
